1. A short conversation. Where the property is, what you are seeing, roughly how tall and how long the wall is. Five minutes, and it tells us what to bring.

2. An on-site visit. We measure the wall, check the base, look at the grade above and below it, and work out where the water is going. This is the part that decides everything else.

3. A written estimate. Scope, materials, height, drainage detail and access assumptions, with the cause of the problem named. Usually within a few days of the visit.

4. Your decision. No follow-up pressure. If you want to think about it or get other quotes, that is reasonable and we would do the same.

What to Have Ready

You do not need any of this, but it speeds things up:

• Roughly how long the wall is and how tall at its highest point
• What it is made of — block, concrete, stone or timber
• What you are seeing, and roughly when you first noticed it
• Photos, including one straight down the face along its length, which shows a lean better than anything else
• Whether machinery can reach the wall, or whether everything has to come down a side passage

Worth knowing about timing: we build from roughly March through late November. Once the ground freezes, excavation and base compaction cannot be done to standard. We still assess walls in winter, and getting on the schedule then usually means an early spring start rather than joining the queue in April.

If Your Wall Is Failing Now

If a wall is visibly moving, has cracked through, or is leaning over a walkway, driveway or anywhere people go, keep people away from the low side and call us. We will get out to look at it as a priority.

Walls rarely come down without warning, but once movement accelerates it can go quickly.
